!!..The Dark Knight Rises review..!!

Well, I finally got to see the movie today.
And there is no needless to say I loved it. Nolan in the past few years has risen to a level of film-making that is beyond boundaries of measurement. He is a film maker who knows exactly what he is doing and how it will come out to be.

Made on an enormous budget of $ 250 Million, one of the costliest films ever justifies every drop of that money. Such brilliantly organized set pieces blow your mind away. Absolutely beautiful.

Screenplay is what Nolan masters at. This film is very intense. Not because of a particular character like the Joker in The Dark Knight but because a crippled, used to be superhero has to stop a whole city from falling apart.

The fisrt half is all drama, basically it is a build up to the epic saga waiting to be unfold. It does take its time but it's worth the patience.

The villain here is Bane, a mercenary trained by the same Ras 'Al Ghul that Bruce Wayne received his training. Tom Hardy portrayes the character convincingly and his beefed up body does prove to be a tough challenge for the masked superhero.

Officer Gordon also plays a vital role in saving the city and Selina(Catwoman in comic books) is a nice addition as well. Surprising was the character of Officer Blake who understands early what is really going on.

But, during the action sequences the show stealer were the AWESOME gadgets and the impossibly good vehicles. ;-)

Yes. Bane is no match to The Joker.
Yes. TDKR is not better than TDK.
but TDKR is an excellent film in its own right with a much larger perspective than the previous two. At stake here is the whole city of Gotham.

And Yes. It indeed is a perfect finale to the Batman trilogy.

The ending of the film was the best part... see it if you haven't for the surprises.

Go watch it!!

!!The Amazing Spider-Man review!!

The year 2002, Sam Raimi created his rendition of Spider-man, which undoubtedly won hearts of millions of fans around the globe. Being followed by Spider-man 2 and Spider-Man 3, the franchise gets a complete new makeover.

*Spoilers*

The film starts off with Peter Parker having bluffed his way into Oscorp, the firm his father used to own, then impressing Dr. Conners with his knowledge, he enters a restricted area where he gets "bitten" by the spider.

The characterization in Marc Webb's The Amazing Spider-Man is much better than that of the earlier franchise. Mary Jane is replaced by Gwen Stacey and that is a good move. Stacey is an independent character in her own right and does help the story unlike Mary Jane who's sole purpose used to be crying or screaming.

The characters feel realistic and not over the top. Very good CGI and character design

of "The Lizard" is appreciated. Having some nice humourous One-liners the film is developed closer to the actual comic books, for eg Peter parker creating his web shooters himself which run out of web cartridge at crucial times very much unlike what Raimi portrayed to be an ability gained due to the genetic mutation.

Despite all these nice advancements made over the previous films, this one didn't quite manage to grip because of the more complicated screenplay which I felt was slightly over-done. Spider-Man on the other hand was more fun, and it actually felt like a comic book story, while this one tries hard to be more realistic. It's extrememly hard to choose between the two because both are films made with different a mood and motive.

While the earlier was fun to watch, this one tries to be more contentful and deep. Action sequences are nicely filmed and also the Spidey swinging around the city scenes do make an impact.

The story was nice, but it felt more of a Peter Parker story than focusing on Spider-Man and his enemy. Dr. Connors is well portrayed by Rhys Ifans. Also, many times scene A felt disconnected from scene B. Anyways...

Blah blah...

Well, enough said... This one surely is a visual treat to watch and a must for fans of the genre and even more for Spidey lovers. Go watch it!!

One advice : Don't go in expecting too much.

Also, one question that has been running in my mind from quite some time now, and after having seen the latest Spiderman flick, my mind is all stuck on it... The Question is:

-Why "The Amazing Spider-Man" and not "Spider-Man 4"?? Was this reboot really needed?

Ferrari ki sawaari review!

Indian cinema seems to be evolving with films having peculiar plot device like a car in this one, a sperm donor, an athlete turned dacoit etc.

Ferrari ki sawaari in typical Rajkumar Hirani and Vidhu Vinod Chopra style, touches your heart and leaves you teary eyed.

- Aimed at portraying the limits to which a loving father can go to fulfill his son's needs, the film does a fine job.

- The characters are very real and believable with no over the top nuances. The father son relationship is nicely shown and the family suffers from the ever-growing problems of the middle-class.

- Story is nicely penned and keeps the viewer engrossed. Although some twists seemed much predictable but it's OK!

- Acting was what impressed the most. Brilliant work. Sharman Joshi proves his metal, Boman Irani as always plays his character of a former cricketer and now a frustrated man having nothing to do with excellence. Also the young Ritwik Sahore has done a good job too.

- The best thing being the feel good factor, the genuineness of Rusi, his love and selfless dedication for his son leave your heart filled with emotion and may even make you put napkins under your eyelids.

In the time of films filled with utter non sense and stupidities, Ferrari ki sawaari brings in a breath of fresh air to cinema goers.

A very nice film overall, you will leave the hall having a smile on your face. Absolutely worth a family trip to the theaters.

Ishaqzaade review

 !!..Ishaqzaade review..!!

As soon as the YRF logo came up on the screen, i started to fear that it would turn into another cliched love story!

Well, to sum the whole thing up...it DID but at some parts only. Thank god it wasn't the typical candyfloss romance like many of us are used to!

-The story didn't have any high point at all. The first half is bearable because of the initial political rivalry kind of a thing.

-The film captures the backdrop and the essence of the small town of Almore quite well especially in two chase sequences where Zoya and Parma run for their lives.

-Story is that of the old Hindi cinema ie Hindu-Muslim rivalry, their children falling in love, families turning against them, mother's sacrifice, change of heart and that's it!! That explains pretty much the whole story.

-Gaalis are the most prominent thing in this film and in the ending it was all about "dhishkyaoon" (*_-) vali guns which are called "Tamancha" in desi bhasha!!

-Amit Trivedi's music was really good. Plus the background score was also nice that added to the flavor of the movie!

-Though everything goes smooth, after a point of time, I felt the film started to drag. But it managed to prevent itself from falling all the way down and get a grip to hold a viewer till the end. I think that happened because there were too many sings and dance numbers that were not required at all.

Though being cliched and predictable, Ishaqzaade keeps u engaged for most parts mainly because of the good chemistry between the leading pair, their nice performances and the dialogues.

This is an Ok-ok film that was rides on the thin line between being average and good!!

I guess I would call it not so good but an above average movie that is worthy of the viewer's time and money!!

The Avengers review!!

The fans of the franchise now, have another reason to smile, this time an even bigger one!! :-)

Ever since the trailer of The Avengers went on air, from that very day I had been watching it daily twice at least. Already knowing that its got to be a fantastic film...somewhere I feared that hype often kills it!!

Thank God!! Nothing like that happened...instead, I, after finally having watched the awesome Superhero flick, feel that this one was under hyped!!!

Its a waayyyyyy tooo goooooddd!!!!! One of the best kick-ass action flicks EVER!

F***!!! I don't have words enough to describe the excitement I'm in right now. Brilliant it is! Anyone who has ever read any Superhero comic book in his life, GO SEE the movie...

Having dazzling set designs all amazingly well crafted into one package, director Joss Whedon to my amazement has given this Superhero feast, a nice new treatment. And that is that The Avengers despite having been put into Genres like Action/Adventure/Sci-Fi, surprise, surprise, it is Extremely funny too...I knew Tony Stark(aka Iron Man) would be delivering some witty lines here and there, but never was I expecting it to be sooo hilarious!! Amazing work!!

6 Superheroes, the earth to save, It has EVERYTHING a fan-boy would ever ask for, even  more!!

After having successfully introduced us to Iron Man, Hulk, Thor, Captain America in their individual ventures, Marvel studios have done a brilliantly good job by developing this unbelievable spectacle!!

One more thing that I would specially appreciate about The Avengers is that EVERY
superhero gets his/her deserving screen space! Nobody was overshadowing.

Iron Man is techy, Hulk is destructive, Thor being a Demi-god it must have been a
really difficult task to group them up along with Black Widow, Hawkeye and Captain
America who are already used to obeying orders. Plus with all that being in place
initially they had their egos clashing against one another. Having all that resolved,
the enemy is Loki, brother of Thor, there were Supernatural creatures that had to be
blended within the perimeters of the world that had been developed. Man, this would
have been one hell of a tough job!!

Spectacular, jaw dropping action, excellent fun, smart and witty dialogues make this
Superhero extravaganza a treat to watch!! Exceeds all expectations.
I'm still working on believing it! It was that good... And well, I don't know if I
should tell this in public but I, literally was sitting on the seat like a little
child, clapping, whistling and laughing my lungs out, enjoying every scene of the movie.

There is sooo much to write about but that would be unnecessary i guess, so only one suggestion in the end.....Don't miss this!!

This definitely couldn't be any better. Hats off to Joss Whedon, the cast who delivered
their performances with a panache and to the Marvel crew!!!

This was by far the most entertaining memorable movie I have seen in my life!! Will cherish this for long..... I wish I had my friends with me...huh!! Nevermind..!! ;-)

The Avengers.....Go!! Go!! Go!!!

Sherlock review

!!...Sherlock...Sherlock...!!!

Just finished watching Sherlock (TV SERIES), aired on BBC One over two seasons in Three episode series each (2010-2012)!! I obviously watched the DVDRip!!

And I have to admit, this time, a TV Series...a TV Program has amazed me.

Man, what a brilliant show. Almost every time Sherlock opened his mouth to speak, you forget everything going around you and try and pay as much attention you can and when he's done with it..you say to yourself.... "Hey, what the hell just happened..."

The few things i found stunning in this show are:

- Insanely good dialogue delivery by Benedict Cumberbatch.
- Insanely sharp eye for things.
- Insanely brilliant case solving.
- Insanely good acting.
- Insanely keen writing.
- Insanely interestingly filmed.
- Insanely this......
- Insanely that....

So, in short if I sum up all these... This show is FUCKIN INSANE!!!!

Believe me guys.... I'm falling short of adjectives right now! I feel very lucky to have watched it. Thank you makers of the show.

And ya...talking about the last Episode ie Season2 Ep.3... it completely took my breath away man!!
Killer twist in the end... I won't spoil the fun by telling you that but let tell me tell you...at the very end you will be like "Oh Man!!"

Adaalat, till now, was my favorite show on Sony... I think I'll never be able to enjoy it again, thanx to Mr. Sherlock!! Urrrghhh!! (*_-)

Well, I surf imdb regularly and had known about this show for sometime... but I would really like to thank my pal Vishesh who made me watch it.

Thanx again Vishesh.....

Rating - *****(rating this show is just a formality!!) Haha....

Hello Andhero by Agnee review

WTF!!!

Agnee...man! What the f*** have you done?? I am absolutely not against Agnee's music...but it was very disappointing listening to "Hello Andheron"!! I am not at all saying that the song is too bad or something, but seriously guys.....

Is this the theme for THE AVENGERS?? I was like WTF?? This is shit!! This song is completely amateurish...bad lyrics, repetitive composition!!

I gotta say...that why are we Indians continuously proving to the world that we are no good for rock music... Atleast for a movie like The Avengers there had to be something powerful... We are even faaar behind our very neighbor Pakistan where day by day new talent is blooming!!

I reckon we should just stick to our "la...la..la....sur taal and aalap" thing!!

Congratulations India!!!! Thanx people for supporting Indipop and Rock to the extent that it now almost dead... Talented artists come, make an album...(sometimes a good one too...), and then?? Welcome to fuckin stupid Bollywood!!

Leave the stage man...go sing for some stupid hero, who wants to woo his gf lip synching it...and we go gaga over it!! Unbelievable!!

Examples are Shaan, Bombay Vikings (Neeraj Shreedhar...who's life is now governed by the great Pritam!!, Sonu Nigam etc...etc...the list is long!!)

I am very disappointed and full of anger right now!!

And I will always wish someone like "SURAJ JAGAN"(the only actual hard rock voice in India) or "LUCKY ALI" (the person I sincerely respect) or maybe "Vishal Dadlani" would have handed over the project to!!!

Huh!!

Well, in the end...that's just my opinion...!! Do u agree???

Paan Singh Tomar review

Well, well... What a film!

An armyman turned national award winning athlete turned Baghi(not a dacoit mind u!! Dacoits to parliament me hote hain)!!
A born runner joins the army...then moves his mind to sports...why?? Because of the good diet there... :D

Doing a biopic is a risky biz. But Tigmashu Dhulia, the way you did it, hats off man!! Brilliant!

Almost everything about Paan Singh Tomar is great...tight script, brilliant performances, the cinematography makes you want to visit the places it was shot at.
But above all, a stellar performance by Irrfan Khan...he has proved once again that he is one of those fine actors who can pull off any role(literally) with ease.

At first i feared how would a 45+ guy suit the role of an atlete?? Amazed i was at his work.

The film also puts focus on broader issues on how outlaws are made and not born that too because of the corrupt system and immoral society...and if this story is even half of what actually happened, then it is a tight slap on the face of the system in India!!

GO see it!! Films like these need to be praised...

Thank you Tigmashu Dhulia for doing something for the unsung heroes of Indian athletics. And thank you Irrfan Khan for putiing in so much of blood, sweat and heart into it...!!

This film is sure to touch your heart.

Agneepath review

Agneepath... Agneepath.... Agneepath!!

Revenge...this is what the whole 3 hour movie is all about..!!

First, the storyline...evil guy kills boys father...boy swears revenge... Ordeals follow!! Nothing new. BUT...a 90's like story in 2012...the writers did a really good job blending it into a modern world scenario!! Also, it has a fairly good amount of twists that will grip you till the end.

Second, the acting... Awesome job done by EVERYBODY!! Hrithik's portrayal of "Vijay Dinanath Chauhan" is fabulous! Priyanka fitted in the role very well... Rishi Kapoor's character of Rauf Lala was good!! Needless to say about his acting skills.
Annnd.. Sanjay Dutt, he looked beautiful as Shit!! :D His role was really Evil and he

Music is not what you will prefer listening to once you leave the hall (except for one..you know which!! ;)) but is well suited!

Starts off like a typical Bollywood film...a few minutes into it...entry of Kancha (Sanjay Dutt) and it all seems to get straightened out!

The environment was dark and intense and in my opinion is the best part of the movie... Moreover the content and quality of violence was pretty good too, not what one would expect...

The story though sounds cliched, is intriguing...and keeps you indulged.
Plus...it may be a remake or it maybe an adaption (i wasn't even born the time the original came out :D) but believe me...whatever it is it has been done with excellence!!

The background score by Ajay-Atul acts another strong supporting actor in the film...suits almost every intense scene!!

A nice film overall...

The Lord Of The Rings review

!!!The Lord Of The Rings!!!

You have heard a lot about it, haven't you?? I too had!! So, after much a thought, i finally decided to see what all the hoax was about!!
And i must say, all those who have seen it...congratulations!! And those who haven't, you are missing something undefinable in words....

I was amazed!!
It almost like revives your soul. Believe me, you feel proud... You find yourself immersed in the scenic beauty portrayed...you start feeling if it were all for real!!

Every frame picture perfect..its like pause the movie anytime, take a screenshot, make it your wallpaper kind of a thing....!!

You feel every emotion on every creature's face...
My cheeks even started aching as my mouth was open almost the whole time... I was spellbound by the dazzling scenery...oh man!!

Gollum's (Smeagol) character was brilliant!!
You feel honored witnessing the greatness of this beautiful story of Faith, Courage, Pride, Power, Mythology (and what not.....) unleash!!

The Michael Bay, John Woo, Stallone, Arnold fans may need a high dose of a patience increaser tonic though!! (*_-)

Awesome visual effects (i really mean it)...!! Plus there was an excellent cast...it was as if the actors were born to play their roles (especially the character Gandalf).... The battle in the final episode at Minas Tirith was spectacular...

I  you can watch the whole saga unfold before your very eyes and when it is about to end you do nothing but wish the adventurous journey never ends...
Some among you may not agree but I don't think i have seen anything more spectcular than TLOTR... And also, I am pretty sure I will remember it for a long long time!!

One small advice...get the movies, switch on your Home Theater, watch it at night in silence then will you feel the absolute amazingness of it!!

I don't have that much of a vocabulary to define it in words.... All I can say is...
Thank You...thank you... Thank you so much Peter Jackson!!!...and the whole team behind this absolute epic saga!!!

Thank You very much!!

Mission Impossible 4 review

!!...Mission Impossible 4...!!

I know I was late to go in for the movie...but all thanx to UPTU!! :P

Well, this was a reckless roller coaster ride...
And is Tom Cruise really 49?? Looked more like 29!!

I wonder how much of mind and imagination do they apply on one script??? No, seriously!! I mean every single scene was made with such finesse that you almost end up saying to yourself "Yaar ye actual me ho sakta hai kya...??"

The action sequences were fantastic, brilliant!!!
Scenes filmed in Dubai were just amazing man...
Specially the one when he climbs Burj Khalifa....it was absolutely stunning....!! And that one single sequence is enough to get your heart pumping....for sure!!

-Fooling a guard with an imaging system that creates an artificial statue on a screen...amazing it was!!
-Chasing a man...okk!! Doing this in the middle of a sandstorm...awesome!!

This action thriller makes excellent use of comic scenes as well... Comedy is so brilliantly incorporated in the film as if they actually want you to think "it was just a cakewalk"...
Story was engaging as well...

Tom Cruise is awesome in his portrayal of Ethan Hunt, Paula was hot,Jeremy Renner bagged another good role after Hurt Locker... And Simon Pegg!! He is awesome..i am a fan of his...!! N ya, our Anil kapoor was really good as a laughing stock until Paula got him down within 5 min of his role...

-The most amazing thing was what Tom Cruise discovered in India was TRAFFIC...!! :D :D

A stunning watch....and if you dare to miss it, well...You shouldn't!! :D

Tom Cruise saves the day again... ;-)

Desi Boyz review

!! Desi Boyz review !!

The story:

<Spoilers>

A qualified guy (Nick) living satisfactorily with his non-qualified pal (Jerry).
Aww, here comes the recession devil, Jerry loses his job again, Nick gets fired too.
Both without a penny left in their pockets. Sitting in a bar, a Desi Boyz club card
comes flying across the table (god knows from where it came). They go there and the money draws them to become Male escorts. They get famous. Nick's girlfriend (Deepika) finds this out and guess what...BREAK-UP!!
Then, the usual manana shanana n 'ol. Jerry in the time being loses his kid to a foster home because of his financial condition. He then realises his mistakes and decides to go back to complete his graduation. There he finds his love (Chitrangda).
He graduates and finds a job. Nick is also able to woo his gf once again (with a little help from her father Anupam Kher).
And then, the ending, a courtroom scene, Jerry fighting for the child's custody, all odds against him. What's gonna happen?
Suddenly, Sanjay DUtt (owner of Desi Boyz) jumps in heroically and saves the day (quite cliched you see) with a couple of awesome lines! And thats it...

-Some good punches here and there.

-An average storyline.

-The film's music was fine but somehow the choreography seemed very repetitive.

-Highlights of the for sure are the two men with chiseled torsos and loads of hot blondes.

-I really don't have much to say about the film but this film somehow manages to keep you entertained throughout. Well, to say the least its not at all a must watch but on the other hand its not THAT bad too... A fine weekend watch but then, don't use your logics if you want to enjoy!!

RA.One review

RA.one... RA.One!!!
PS2 Game, TV appearances, London premiers and what not!! The energetic Mr.SRK for sure left no stones unturned to promote. But then, that doesn't make up good film! :(

I went in with low expectations. And frankly, the movie didnt exceed on them as i was hoping it would.

Storyline 2
Action sequences 2.5
VFX 3.5
Entertainment factor 3
Acting 3

Unnecessary action, I mean what was the f***ing need for RA.One and G.One to blow up 7-8 cars?? Superhero movie they call it. Uff!!
Stupid cheap vulgar comedy without sense of humor! A child whose genius proved to be better than world's 10 best Hackers put together... Huh!!
The HART, the train stopping sequence, a scene in which he falls punching into the ground, the suit, a virtual character coming to life...all concepts lifted. Sad!!

What the writers have tried to do is pick elements from existing superhero films and just blend them together to create a so called Indian Superhero!! I really wish SRK should have given this ambitious project in the hands of a FILMMAKER and not a guy who believes a film is merely a compilation of scene after scene with no connectivity. After Cash, Dus etc Anubhav Sinha has done it again!! Kudos!!

All in all, I would not suggest you to go see the movie but also, I won't say that you SHOULD NOT!!
You can surely go and watch it...but don't use too much of brains and make yourself believe that you have not seen any Superhero Movie (especially Iron Man) before this(applicable to the Sci-fi & Superhero freaks like me :D)....

I was leaving the hall, dissapointed. Mainly because the film had potential but Bollywoodism was dancing on the top of the film....Uuurrgghhh!!
